Kissa kiss ka
Hey Ram has the "scene" which was (probably) the only talking point of the film.
Lip service has always been under scanner. But we (cinegoers) have had our share of it in the form of Khwahish, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Sagar, Mr India, Dayavan. Hey Ram! Yes, Hey Ram has the "scene" which was (probably) the only talking point of the film.
But with the new Information and Broadcasting minister, Priya Ranjan Das Munshi, around things could be better. "After careful consideration", kissing is "admitted and permitted," so says mantriji.
But when it comes to Bangla cinema, one wonders how the film fraternity or cinegoers would react to "such" scenes on the big screen. Parallel cinema has been bold though, starting from Ray's Ghare Baire to Aparna Sen's 36 Chowringhee
Lane to the more recent Rituparno Ghosh's Dahan. One wonders if Munshi's words would bring a change in Bangla commercial cinema which still abides by the "birds and bees" concept.
Kaushik Ganguly, who had shown such a scene in his recent flick Shunye E Bukey, said, "I firmly believe that the Bangla film audience can accept kissing scenes. With my film, I took a bold step which went down very well even with the rural audience."

"Indian audience may not be open to bedroom scenes but if properly handled, kissing scenes can be accepted because that's the limit we can go on-screen. There was such a scene both in my first telefilm and serial Bhalobasha Mandobasha."
Actor Indrani Halder said, "The presentation should be smart. It should not look uncomfortable." Director Haranath Chakraborty who had a kissing scene in Shashurbari Zindabad said, "One should tread very carefully when it comes to the Bangla audience.
If presented aesthetically, it is okay but one should never try to make such scenes the selling point of a film. Bengalis are still very conservative."
Director Swapan Saha, who has not used a single kissing scene so far, said, "I do not have any problems in incorporating a kissing scene but I have not felt the necessity so far."
